Bhavarth Ratnakar by S P Bhagat
Ramanujacarya’s “Bhavrtha Ratnkara” is an ancient Vedic astrology text based on bhava lordships, combinations for individual ascendants, as well as numerous yogas and Das results. Although it is a small book, it contains many hidden gems on astrological principles. “Bhvrtha Ratnkara” literally means “interpretation of various planets divined from the vast ocean of numerous Vedic astrology texts.” There are a few commentaries on this text, one of which by the revered Dr. B. V. Raman is particularly noteworthy. Many of the previous commentaries were in the form of a translation of the Sanskrit shlokas with some example charts, but none of them had commented on the logic behind the slokas. As a result, this commentary tries to elucidate the logic behind various yogas and the outcomes of various planet placements, as well as when they are most likely to fructify, as outlined in the slokas. I hope that this commentary will compliment my commentary on “Laghu and Madhya Prar,” which is already available to Vedic astrology enthusiasts.
