Diabetes is an incredibly misunderstood affliction – by many diabetics themselves, and even by most people in the medical profession, unless they have been specifically trained. There’s far more to consider than just avoiding sugar in your diet. This is an incurable ailment, but much can be done to alleviate and sometimes even avoid most of its effects. The author comes from a diabetic family background and has been a diet-controlled diabetic herself for many years. This book covers her personal experience with and research into the subject – covering mainly type 2 diabetes, but with much valuable insight into type 1 and the more recently discovered type 1.5! Sasha has written a wide range of Mind, Body & Spirit books and lectured all over the world, but this may be her most vitally useful book yet. In the UK, about 26,000 people die from diabetic-related ailments or complications each year, and the incidence of diabetes is on the increase, especially in line with increasing obesity in younger people. In the USA, about 24 million people or 8 percent of the population are diagnosed diabetics (2million in the UK), while a great number of people are actually unaware of their condition. It’s never too soon to start changing and improving one’s life as a diabetic, as even “mild” diabetes won’t stay long that way if ignored.
